OWL
This is not a class that you have to register for but a service to you Online to check your writing skills. I suggest that you use the Online Writing Lab. The Online Writing Lab is a Blackboard course in which all SCS students are enrolled. When you log into Blackboard the Online Writing Lab will be listed on the right under "Courses in Which You are participating." You can click to enter this course and there are instructions on how to submit a paper to the lab and get feedback from the Online Writing Lab course instructor within 48 hours on your work. The Online Writing Lab or OWL will make suggestions on what to improve and revise in your paper. It is up to you to revise the work before submitting it to your course instructor. That is one option available to students at the University of Richmond for improving their writing skills.
Writing Center
The writing center is a program that assists University of Richmond writers at all levels of experience. There mission is to provide experienced tutors who offer friendly critiques for written work in any major. We also provide faculty support and materials for teachers in our Writing-Across-the-Curriculum Program and in Eng. 103, the university's expository writing class.
Their offices are located in the Administrative Wing of the Boatwright Library, to the right of the library's main entrance. Our staff includes writing fellows assigned to faculty and who assist entire classes with their papers and a few technology fellows who assist with projects integrating technology and writing. You instructor will assist you to set up an appointment with a writing fellow. To find out more click on this link Writing Center
