LearningStyles

There has been much scientific research done on how people learn. There are many theories out there, many of which contradict each other, and many of which can compliment each other. Here is an interesting article from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development describing the major theories people have come up with in the last 50 years. The piece also examines how these theories pertain to elearning for job training. I think you will find the article to be relevant to online college work as well.

Check out this Index of Learning Styles Questionnaire developed by Barbara A. Soloman and Richard M. Felder from North Carolina State University. It is a 44 question test that will give you an idea of your learning style. I found the explanations for the different aspects of learning style very interesting. Here is a short article by Magda Havas explaining how a student can use such information.
