DomesticTerrorism

This is an area that I hate to admit exists. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigations, between 1991 and 2001, there were 74 terrorist incidents in the United States. The F.B.I. defines DomesticTerrorism as: "the unlawful use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or invdividual based and operating entirely within the United States or its territories without foreign direction committed against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherence of political or social objectives."

The F.B.I.'s number one priority is to protect the United States from terrorist attacks. Some of those that have been convicted of terrorism in the recent past in the United States include:

  • Timothy
    McVeigh
  • Terry Nichols
  • Eric Rudolph
  • Ted Kaczynski
  • Ramzi Yousef

The F.B.I. has documented 42 active terrorist organizations within the United States.

A "Strategic Plan" to fight terrorism from 2004-2009 has been published by the F.B.I. and can be found below.

Some of the more active and recent terrorist groups in the United States are the Animal Liberation Front (A.L.F.) and the Earth Liberation Front (E.L.F.)
