Spring 2009 Teaching & Learning with iPods Program

Apple’s iPod is far and away the most popular portable media device. The iPod can store and display audio, video, still images and text. From an education standpoint the iPod is a portable multimedia center that has the potential to extend learning in many different ways.

Since Spring 2006, Information Services has helped faculty to incorporate iPods into a number of courses. We are now accepting faculty applications for our Spring 2009 Teaching & Learning with iPods program. The short proposal form looks to see how faculty would use the iPod in a class. Although time is of the essence to bring iPods into the spring semester, a month away, Academic Technology Consultants will work with faculty to help in the aggressive timescale. As soon as proposals are selected, the Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology will contact the instructors and begin planning for their needs. Instructors and students will be issued the 30 GB video iPod with an optional microphone attachment for that term. Information Services will support the class throughout the semester, providing:
